Reciprocating Uniflow Steam Expander

Developed and built for the Domestic Heat-Power System,  Uniflow Steam Engines are the most efficient ever developed, and this engine design avoids oil contamination of condensate.

 

Fred developed 100% redundant feedwater pumping design, including boiler water level control with no  moving parts whatsoever, plus emergency redundant low water level alarm/shutdown with no moving wetted parts.

Domestic Heat-Power Systems 

Fred has built and operated Domestic Heat-Power Systems, including an automatic unattended coal fired steam-electric co-generation system, operating for four years with only four forced outages.  Also built an oil fired Diesel co-generation unit, operating reliably for 9 years.  ASME (American Society of Mechanical Engineers) Joint Power Generation Conference presentation describes operations and detailed performance history.
